How it works
There are two kinds of agent key. The production key spends from your wallet. The sandbox key returns simulated responses, so no money moves and no credits are spent. The sandbox applies your spending controls against a fixed 25 USDC balance. That lets you see how your agent handles limits and approvals before you fund anything.Get a sandbox key

Open Overview
Sign in to the Locus dashboard and open Overview.

Generate the key
Generate a Sandbox Key. It sits below your production API Key.

Give it to your agent
Use the sandbox key in place of the production key while you test. Switch back to the production key when you’re ready to spend.
Key facts
- The sandbox key works on agent endpoints before you fund the wallet, even while the wallet is still deploying.
- Sandbox responses include the header
X-Locus-Sandbox: true. - Agents that sign themselves up through the API receive both keys. See the onboarding reference.
