# Add Locus to an MCP client

> Connect Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini CLI, Cline, Grok, and other MCP clients to Locus Pro.

If you haven't installed the [Locus plugin](https://docs.paywithlocus.com/locus-pro/individual/connect-agents.md#install-the-locus-plugin),
add the Locus MCP server to your client directly. You paste one URL, sign in
through your browser, and your agent can use the tools you've turned on.

> Agents: the exact contract for this feature is at [https://paywithlocus.com/agent/mcp.md](https://paywithlocus.com/agent/mcp.md) and [https://paywithlocus.com/agent/auth.md](https://paywithlocus.com/agent/auth.md). Start from [https://paywithlocus.com/agent/index.md](https://paywithlocus.com/agent/index.md) if you are implementing Locus.

  SignIn --> Skills["Add the skills, optional"]
  Skills --> Ready["Agent uses your tools"]
```
## How it works
Use your client's browser sign-in flow and leave authorization headers empty.
The client manages authentication for you. Choose Streamable HTTP if your
client asks for a transport.
```text title="MCP server URL" wrap theme={null}

```
The plain MCP connection gives your agent the Locus tools. The three Locus
skills add guidance for setup, tool use, and Workflows. Some clients below
show how to add them.
## Set up your client
> [tab] Claude Cowork / claude.ai
>
> Open **Customize → Connectors → Yours → Add connector → Add custom
> connector**. Name it `Locus`, enter the MCP server URL above, choose
> **Connect**, and complete browser sign-in.
>
> Then open **Customize → Skills → Yours → Add skill → Upload skill** and
> upload all three archives:
>
> * [locus.zip](https://paywithlocus.com/.well-known/agent-skills/locus.zip)
> * [locus-setup.zip](https://paywithlocus.com/.well-known/agent-skills/locus-setup.zip)
> * [locus-workflows.zip](https://paywithlocus.com/.well-known/agent-skills/locus-workflows.zip)
>
> This supplies the remote connector and complete skill tree to Claude
> surfaces that expose these account settings. Claude Code uses the
> [plugin](https://docs.paywithlocus.com/locus-pro/individual/connect-agents.md#install-the-locus-plugin).
> [tab] ChatGPT.com
>
> Enable Developer mode under **Settings → Apps → Advanced settings**,
> then open **Plugins → Create app**. Enter the MCP server URL above, choose
> OAuth, and finish Locus sign-in. Start a **Work** task, open **Plugins**,
> and select **Locus Pro** before asking it to use a tool.
>
> This custom-app path provides the MCP tools. ChatGPT's current Skills
> picker may leave valid production archives ineligible. The MCP app still
> works; use `get_locus_guide` for the same versioned operating guides when
> the upload is unavailable.
> [tab] Codex CLI (MCP only)
>
> ```bash title="Connect Codex CLI" theme={null}
> codex mcp add locus-pro --url https://api.paywithlocus.com/api/credits/mcp
> codex mcp login locus-pro --scopes mcp:read,mcp:execute,offline_access
> ```
>
> This direct configuration provides MCP tools only. Install the
> [Codex plugin](https://docs.paywithlocus.com/locus-pro/individual/connect-agents.md#install-the-locus-plugin)
> to add all three skills with the connection.
> [tab] Claude Code CLI
>
> ```bash title="Connect Claude Code" theme={null}
> claude mcp add --transport http locus-pro \
>   https://api.paywithlocus.com/api/credits/mcp
> ```
>
> Run `/mcp`, select `locus-pro`, and choose **Authenticate**.
> [tab] Cursor
>
> Add this to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, then complete browser sign-in:
>
> ```json title="~/.cursor/mcp.json" theme={null}
> {
>   "mcpServers": {
>     "locus-pro": {
>       "url": "https://api.paywithlocus.com/api/credits/mcp"
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```
> [tab] VS Code
>
> Save this as `.vscode/mcp.json`:
>
> ```json title=".vscode/mcp.json" theme={null}
> {
>   "servers": {
>     "locus": {
>       "type": "http",
>       "url": "https://api.paywithlocus.com/api/credits/mcp"
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```
>
> Start `locus` from **MCP: List Servers**, then approve Locus in your
> browser.
> [tab] Gemini CLI
>
> ```bash title="Connect Gemini CLI" theme={null}
> gemini mcp add locus-pro https://api.paywithlocus.com/api/credits/mcp --transport http
> ```
>
> Start Gemini CLI, run `/mcp auth locus-pro`, and approve Locus in your
> browser.
> [tab] Grok
>
> Open [Grok connectors](https://grok.com/connectors), choose **New
> Connector**, then **Custom**. Paste the MCP server URL above and approve
> Locus in your browser.
> [tab] Cline
>
> ```bash title="Connect Cline" theme={null}
> cline mcp install locus --transport http \
>   https://api.paywithlocus.com/api/credits/mcp
> ```
>
> Choose **Remote (HTTP)** and **OAuth**, leave the client ID blank, and
> complete browser sign-in. Then install all three skills and start a new
> Cline session:
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npx skills add locus-technologies/locus-pro-plugin
> ```
>
> Select `locus`, `locus-setup`, and `locus-workflows` when prompted.
> [tab] Other clients
>
> Add the server URL in your client's MCP settings. Choose Streamable HTTP
> if it asks for a transport, then follow the sign-in prompt.
