# Claim and fund an agent's account

> What happens when an agent creates a Locus account in your name: the claim email, funding links, and what changes once you claim.

When an agent creates a Locus Pro account with your email address, you receive a claim email and, later, funding links. This page explains what each one does, so you can decide what to approve.

> Agents: the exact contract for this feature is at [https://paywithlocus.com/agent/auth.md](https://paywithlocus.com/agent/auth.md). Start from [https://paywithlocus.com/agent/index.md](https://paywithlocus.com/agent/index.md) if you are implementing Locus.

## How it works

The agent's account works before you claim it. Claiming makes you an owner. Paying a funding link only adds credits; it does not make you an owner.

    direction TB
    E["Claim email"] -->|"Claim account"| O["You become an owner"]
    E -->|"This wasn't me"| S["Account suspended"]
  end
```
## Claim the account
Open the **Claim account** link in the email. You become an owner, so you can see what the agent spends and manage its access. If you did not ask for the account, choose **This wasn't me** to suspend it.
* The claim link lasts 30 days.
* The agent can send a new link, or correct a mistyped address before you claim, with `locus auth resend-claim`.
### Before and after you claim
| | Unclaimed | Claimed |
| - | - | - |
| Tools | Every tool is on. The agent can turn a tool on itself. | The agent sends you an approval link for a tool that is off. |
| Funding | At most \$50 in total, counting unpaid links | Your normal funding limits |
| Inactivity | Suspended after 30 days with no funding and no use | Not suspended for inactivity |
## Pay a funding link
When the agent needs credits, it sends you a Stripe Checkout link for a specific amount.
| Funding link | What it means |
| - | - |
| One amount | You approve only that payment, not future card charges |
| 24-hour expiry | The agent needs a new link after it expires |
| Agent-owned account | Paying does not make you an owner; claiming the account does |
> [!WARNING]
>
> Share only the funding link. Never paste card details into chat.
