# Custom domains

> Put your Build with Locus app on a domain you own or buy one through Locus.

Every service gets a public HTTPS URL. Add a custom domain when you want your own address. You can bring a domain you already own or buy one through Locus, and SSL is included either way.

## How it works

## Bring your own domain

**1. Add the domain**

Enter your domain in the dashboard. Locus gives you a CNAME target and SSL certificate validation records.

**2. Update DNS**

Add the records at your DNS provider, then verify the domain in Locus. DNS changes usually take 1–30 minutes.

**3. Attach the service**

Once DNS and the certificate validate, select the service that should receive the traffic.

## Purchase a domain

**1. Search**

Search for a domain in the dashboard and review its price. Prices vary by TLD.

**2. Buy**

Complete the purchase with your contact information. Registration usually takes **1–15 minutes**, and Locus configures DNS and SSL automatically.

**3. Attach the service**

Once registration finishes, attach the domain to a service.
